Program: "From a Legacy of Pain to a Legacy of Hope, Personal Power, Determination and Resilience for the coming generations" - "Moving beyond the Residential School collective memory"
Description: While acknowledging the pain of the Residential School era, today's session will facilitate a forum that allows participants to "look back in order to look forward" in totality of the full Residential School experience. We will "bear witness" for one another in finding and taking conscious ownership in what our resiliency factors were that allowed us to endure with perseverance, each of our own journeys in Residential School. With courageous consciousness, we will explore the existing "residue" of Residential School, understanding the present legacy of lst and 2nd generations of Residential School students, and will challenge ourselves to get rid of the labeling that has kept us "stuck in the story" and has prevented us from reaching our full potential as Anishinabek today. We will appreciate, validate, and celebrate our tenacity and strength that will allow us to create a new legacy for the future: one of resilience, celebration of life, and personal and community commitment to creating the new legacy of personal power. Today, we begin our Victory Dance over the Residential
School era!
