Wikwemikong Ambulance Services
The Wikwemikong Ambulance Services used to be a “Stand Alone Agreement Policy” for Wikwemikong but later signed an agreement to be Unionized by the Ontario Provincial Services Union in April 2004 and is known as the Manitoulin-Sudbury Region (EMU-SMU). The Wikwemikong Ambulance Service is represented and accountable by the District Social Services Administration Board. The mission of the Wikwemikong Ambulance Service is to deliver a community based ambulance service for Wikwemikong and surrounding area.
The Ambulance Base presently has 8 F/T Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) workers for Wikwemikong itself and presently distributes 20 P/T employees within the surrounding local ambulance services. The Paramedics reliever specialized training in the area defibulizer.
The Wikwemikong Ambulance Base is equipped with two ambulance vehicles. The new ambulance building is located on Wikwemikong Way beside the new Police Station where they moved into a new the ambulance base October 2005.
